Ride in Kyushu Day 47 (31/1/19) Hinagu Port

Meiji National Army Disembarked Port
Kinparou
Heavy rain today from morning. I change today’s schedule to much shorter destination at Minamata City. 45 km from here. The original destination was 100km away but it is not confortable to ride such long distance in heavy rain, and also, I need to fix flat tire which happened twice yesterday. Something wrong in rear tyre. So may times, that happened in this journey. I could not fined any abnormality in tyre except some small hole, but I do not think this would be a cause of problem. In any way, I fixed the flat tire replacing tyre tube.

Hinagu is famous of old Onsen (Hot Spring) with 600 years, the oldest Onsen in Japan. Many old Onsen Ryokan (Japanese traditional hotel) were found. Bottom of picture shows very famous “Kinparou” 金波楼 with 100 year history, which was registered as national heritage.

Meiji National Army Disembarked Port

The reason of visiting Hinagu is to visit the ocean port where Meiji Government Army disembarked to fight with Satsuma Army in Seinan Civil War.
After visiting Hinagu, I went back to ride to today’s destination Minamata, there are two mountain passes to reach there. Still heavy rain continues.
I was almost there and Amakusa islands visited few days ago were seen very near. Unfortunately it is still raining and not clear. I hope tomorrow morning would be better to see Amakusa. finally I arrived at hotel Yunoji Onsen (湯の児温泉) at 5:30 before sunset.
